Currently, if you own a 4G smartphone that doesn’t support VoLTE, you can only use it for internet access. However, if you want to make voice calls, you have to install the Jio4GVoice app from Play Store to be able to make HD voice calls using Reliance Jio SIM card. Now, ZeeNews reports that Jio is working on a new mobile app which will allow 3G smartphone users to enjoy high-speed 4G services without having to buy a new 4G compatible device.
This app will be launched sometime by the end of this month, and 3G smartphones users could reap benefits of ‘Happy New Year’ offer, the report states. However, it sounds a little sketchy at the moment, especially considering the fact Reliance Jio claims itself to be an all-IP 4G service provider. It remains to be seen how Jio could match the spectrum just by using an app. Till the time Jio doesn’t officially announce the same, we’d advice you to take this news with a grain of salt.
With Reliance Jio’s ‘Happy New year’ offer, customers get a range of benefits including unlimited local and national voice and video calls, along with unlimited local and national SMS (daily cap of 100 messages). Users also get unlimited high-speed internet access with daily download capped at 1GB. After exhausting 1GB data limit, the speed will be reduced to 128Kbps, and will be restored after midnight.
Reliance Jio is also offering users with unlimited access to its range of content services. These include JioTV to access live TV channels on the go, JioCinema to watch on-demand movies and JioMusic to stream songs on the go. The telecom operator is also offering users with an access to JioMags to read the popular print magazines and JioCloud app to take complete backup of their music, videos and other documents.
